June – Cataract Awareness Month

Wednesday, June 6th, 2018

June is Cataract Awareness Month, and South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners is committed to keeping our patients educated about early detection, treatment and available corrective surgeries.  Most people over 65 have some degree of cataract development.  A cataract is the gradual clouding of the natural lens that is inside your eye.  In order for the eye to work properly, it needs a clear lens to focus light on the retina.
Cataracts, the leading cause of preventable blindness, develop when the eye’s lens becomes cloudy which impairs vision.  Surgery to remove the old lens and replace it with a new clear lens is an effective method for improving poor eyesight due to cataract development.
Eye Partners’ own Dr. Scott Petermann & Dr. Wes Ross perform LenSx® – a blade-free, laser-assisted cataract surgery as well as traditional cataract surgery in our new state-of-the-art surgery center in Valdosta.
This new technology is an advanced alternative to traditional cataract surgery, which utilizes surgical blades.  LenSx® provides the surgeon with micron-level precision and improved predictability.  The procedure is tailored to the surgeon’s specifications and delivers a remarkable degree of accuracy.  By creating the incision and fragmenting the clouded lens with LenSx®, the surgeon creates a precise opening for the new lens to be optimally positioned.  You can watch our patient videos here – hear the stories from actual Eye Partners patients who went through the laster-assisted cataract surgery.
Eye Partners performs cataract surgery with LenSx® as an outpatient procedure at our surgery center in Valdosta.  Pre-op and post-op visits for Eye Partners patients can be scheduled in Valdosta, Tifton, Moultrie and Douglas.  Our South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners patients can schedule their visits at our Madison, FL location.

All About Eyes – in Douglas!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2018

As most of you know, South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners has five locations.  We are going to take some time in the next few months to focus on each of these offices…not only the practices themselves, but the people that make them what they are!  This month, we’re focusing on our Douglas office.  Here’s a little about what makes this location tick.

John Moore LDO-Lab manager- has been in Douglas since the building was finished in 1999. With his many years of experience he is our go-to-guy to pick out a perfect frame and lens combo to fit your needs. Eye Partners Douglas’ Optical Shop has a new and fresh frame inventory that we are very excited about: Tiffany & Co., Tory Burch, Prada, Michael Kors, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Ray Ban, & Costa Del Mar just to name a few.

When it comes to getting in to see us, scheduling an appointment is fast and easy! With five doctors servicing the Douglas location the highly trained staff is excellent at fitting your needs and personality with the right doctor for you.

From cataract surgery to routine eye exams, the Douglas office has got you covered!

Angie Culler (Office Manager), Tina Jackson (Desk Lead/Optician Apprentice), and John Moore (LDO – Lab Manager) joined the Eye Partners team with years of experience working together. You can pick up on this immediately with the jokes and personal jabs they take at each other. They want the patients to feel at ease and at home so smiles and laughter are often heard throughout the office.

Whitney Phillips and Caleb Kerman (our Ophthalmic Technicians) both began their careers at Eye Partners during their high school years. Caleb is hoping one day to become and eye doctor himself and travels here daily from the BIG CITY of Hoboken!

Come by our Douglas office today and say hello – we’d love to see you!

South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners specializes in iLASIK and cataract surgery with premium lens implants, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, comprehensive eye exams for adults and children and a Dry Eye Clinic. South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners: Leaders in Eye Care Innovation & Technology

Monday, January 22nd, 2018

Delivering the latest eye care technology to our patients is important to the physicians at South Georgia / North Florida Eye Partners.  Our new ORA System with VerifEye+ Technology, is a new technology addition that assists physicians during cataract surgery by allowing them to obtain real-time, precise measurements of the eye during the actual procedure.  While measurements have always been, and still are, taken before cataract surgery, the exactness and verification this tool delivers in the surgery suite just prior to the procedure gives valuable data to the surgeon.

“The ORA System with VerifEYE+ Technology provides a continuous assessment of a patient’s eye throughout the entire procedure, giving precise measurements to me or one of our other surgeons in one-degree increments,” said Dr. Scott Petermann. “There has never been a more individualized and accurate tool in assisting with cataract surgery.”

We are happy to be bringing this technology to our patients in South Georgia and North Florida who would otherwise have to travel a much greater distance. Our goal is to provide patients with the best care close to home.  Eye Partners’ team of ophthalmologists, Dr. Scott Petermann, Dr. Wes Ross, and Dr. Garrett Webster who is joining our practice in July, perform both laser-assisted and traditional cataract surgery at our state-of-the-art surgery center in Valdosta.  Pre-op and post-op visits for our patients can be scheduled at any of our locations: Tifton, Valdosta, Douglas, Moultrie, and Madison, FL.  Call us today to schedule an appointment with one of our physicians to see if cataract surgery is right for you.
