Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Lauren Rowe

Thursday, October 19th, 2017

For this installment of our Doctor Spotlight series, we are focusing on Dr. Lauren Rowe – who, although new to South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners, is definitely NOT new to optometry.  Dr. Rowe grew up watching her father, optometrist Dr. Ricky Rowe (also now with SGNF) and knew she wanted to be an eye doctor even when she was a little girl.

“I enjoy impacting patients’ lives every day,” Dr. Rowe says. “My favorite aspect of being an optometrist is the one-on-one time with patients.”

Dr. Rowe, an honors graduate of The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, specializes in the treatment and management of ocular diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts.  She and her dad practice in Moultrie at what was formerly Rowe EyeCare and now bears the name South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners as a new branch of our growing practice.  To watch a video of Dr. Rowe in action, click here.

As one of our board-certified optometrists here at South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners, Dr. Rowe is trained in scheduled eye exams as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, and many other optical issues.  With offices in Valdosta, Tifton, Douglas, Moultrie and Madison, Florida, there is certain to be a location convenient to you for all of your optometry needs.  Call us today to schedule an appointment.

Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Valerie Ferrell

“What I like best about being an optometrist is helping people with their most precious sense – their vision.”  Dr. Valerie Ferrell has a passion for optometry, and it shines through with each and every patient.  Dr. Ferrell is from Atlanta and attended the University of Houston College of Optometry.  While not helping people with their vision at South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners, Valerie enjoys spending time with her husband of years and their 2 young daughters.  They love traveling (especially to the beach), bowling, trying new cuisines, and playing a friendly game of corn hole.  Click here to see a video of Dr. Ferrell in action and learn more about her love of helping patients with their eyesight.

SGNF’s Dry Eye Clinic – Help for Dry Eye Syndrome Here at Home

Thursday, September 28th, 2017

One of the most common clinical challenges faced in eye care is dry eye syndrome. Characterized by irritated, scratchy, itchy eyes, dry eye occurs when eyes are not properly lubricated because of insufficient tear production, or unbalanced tear composition. Thanks to new technology, dry eye can now be treated in ways never before available. The latest diagnostic tool – The TearLab Osmolarity System – measures tear osmolarity by taking a small sample of the patient’s tears to see how “dry” they really are. Treatment is then prescribed based on the measurements from the TearLab and range from Omega 3 supplements, tear replacement drops, punctual plugs, anti- inflammatory drops, oral antibiotics and prescription strength artificial tears.

If you are ready to address your dry eye problems, South Georgia/North Florida Eye Partners has three convenient locations in Valdosta, Tifton, Douglas, Moultrie and Madison, FL  Read more about our Dry Eye Clinic here. Contact us today to make an appointment.
