“Taking a snooze”
Posted by: South Georgia / North Florida Eye Partners in Blog
We all have heard alot about snoring and sleep apnea recently. While reading a professional eye care journal I saw an article about sleep apnea. As an avid chainsaw snorer, it caught my attention. Little did I know that sleep apnea may contribute to eye problems. Recently a group of doctors examined whether sleep apnea may be associated with retinal vein occlusions. Retinal vein occlusions are a relatively common cause of vision loss that involves a vein in the back of the eye becoming blocked. The authors findings suggest that sleep apnea may be a risk factor for vein occlusions. Just one more reason to get that snoring checked out!
